Is a security certificate required?

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hi,

I am having lots of trouble with the PayPal standard gateway and was thinking about using Stripe as an alternative for a client.

Can you please tell me if a security certificate is required to use this add-on?

Thanks,
Ben

Hi Ben,

Yes, an SSL certificate is a requirement. Although _technically_ with Stripe the entered CC details never go through your server, Stripe still expects the page with the payment button to be served through https. You can do test transactions without one though. See their notes on this here:http://stripe.com/help/ssl

Cheers
Ryan
