How to remove path from default language

Hi,
I have install two language of my site. One is German(de) and another is English(en).
I have chosen default language is German.
Then the site url is :http://www.example.com/de
But i want to remove (de) from my default language .
Please let me know how can i do this.
I made the Top home page for German language . it remove the language code but after switching to second language , i am not able to back to german.

I need to do the same thing. It's important for SEO. Is there any way to do it with .htaccess? Can't find a rewrite rule which works.
