Automated email and Login query

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hi there,

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious here, but I'm just finding my way around your excellent plugin.

I'm using the software to allow visitors to enroll on an online course. I've set up my personal PayPal account to test and a colleague did a test £0.01 purchase for me. He received an email detailing his email address and password, but no username. I checked in C5 and he was indeed added to the correct group and assigned a username containing his first and last names, but this wasn't sent to him.

As I say, I'm probably missing a trick here, but thought I'd ask. The C5 login page only allows a username and password, not an email address.

Kind regards,
Russ

Hi Russ,

That's weird. It's supposed to send out the email address OR username based on your site's settings.

What version of concrete5 are you running?

Can you confirm that given his username (first and last name as you say) and the password that he was sent that he can login without any problems?

Hi James,

Thanks for coming back to me so quickly. I'm running Concrete5 v 5.6.3.1 (latest). The site is set to login with Username/Password (default). I can confirm however, that once I'd located the username, he could log in just fine.

Regards,
Russ

Weird. Thanks. I'll look into this later tonight. It's supposed to be (and has been for many others) smart enough to provide the appropriate login "name" based on your site settings.

I'll look at this locally but the fact that nobody else has had problems (and there haven't been any changes to the code recently) makes me think this might be something on your side. I don't need it yet, but it might end up helping if I have site and FTP info to debug. You can send these to me at james@jamesshannon.com or I can try to exhaust my more local options first.

Hi.

Turns out that it was totally a bug. For some reason, it just didn't check the username vs email address setting, and nobody has noticed this for 1+ years.

Anyways, it should be fixed now. I just uploaded version 2.1.5 with the changes.
