While Page List Thumbnail Views does not work out-of-the-box with the Product Block, it has been built in a way that you can use the functionality of PLTV in other blocks. The caveat is that you'd need to do some PHP development.

I'm not following exactly.
I'm looking to create views that would show a list of these Product Detail Pages (so a Page List view). Am I mistaken, or does Page List Thumbnail View work with Page List+ (and why wouldn't Page List + work on a list of Pages of the page type "Product Detail Page"?

Put another way, since the Product Block creates a Product Details Page, does it need to work with the Product Block itself, or the Product Detail Page?

I haven't really dug into using this yet, but when I saw in your description the section "Core Block Compatibility", and the Core Commerce block wasn't listed, I thought I would ask the question.

PLTV will go through the blocks on the page and when it finds the first image, it returns it to create the thumbnail.

The 'core block' compatibility gets the images in a different way. For instance the 'image' block will return the image that is set in it. The 'google map' block will return a map image of the location specified in the block.

It should work the way you are describing, as long as there is an <img> tag within the content of the Product Block.

Unfortunately it's not working. I do include an image in the product description area, and the product detail page of course displays that. However, as you are probably aware if at all familiar with Core Commerce, if you click EDIT on that area, you only get the Core Commerce Block edit dialog (which is not the same as editing the product i.e. you can't edit the description). Apparantly, likewise PLP and PLTV also do not "see" the image in this area. Instead, it pulling an image (an icon actually) from the SPecifications Table block which I put in a different area (I modified the Product Detail page type to include another area).

Any suggetions?

I thought I had figured it out when I found the Attribute to select which area to use for the image, but that still didn't work :-(
