Different RSS feed for Each Category?

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hello!

I've set up an RSS MailChimp campaign to send notifications to our subscribers for each new post that goes up.

Is there a way to have a different RSS feed for each different blog category? I don't think I can filter out posts in MailChimp... but I'd love to let people sign up for notifications of only the categories they're interested in- which if I could set up a different RSS MailChimp campaign for the different RSS feeds- I think would work.

Thanks!
Amanda

Ok, so I've found this merge tag for MailChimp:

*|FEED:http://blog.example.com[$category=example]|*

But it doesn't work because there aren't any categories listed in the RSS. Even when I create a feed using the RSS Feed Creator add-on, it doesn't pull categories.

Is there some way to get this to work?

Ok... since it looks like I might be alone here... Here's my workaround (in case anyone in the future is ever wondering)- I duplicated the Pb_post page type and made a different page type for each category (or category that I wanted an RSS feed for) - then I got the RSS feed creator add-on, and created a feed for each one filtered on page type. Then I have a different RSS campaign in MailChimp for each different feed. This way also showed up with some unexpected pros. I can set up a page type for Promotions and let customers sign up for Promotion emails, but then put the post in a different category that is mixed in with other posts, so it makes it less easy for customers to look up past sales - but without having to go back and delete posts. We've had some customers in the past demand to get sale pricing years after the sale was over (I know, I know...)

Anyway - I understand that Concrete can have subscribers and Pro Blog can send out emails for blog posts, but MailChimp seemed like a much more dynamic solution for emails and subscriptions. I wanted to keep the content on our website though - which is why I went with the RSS campaign.

Now to just get the Pro Blog editor to keep my page type selection saved (another thread in support). Thanks

thanks for posting this.

as and FYI, I don't keep up with the discussions areas well.

I try to stay focused on support tickets. We have over 30 products...so, support tickets for all of those plus discussions gets overwhelming to say the least.

But thank you again for posting how you got there.

Thanks Chad - I didn't mean that as a thing against you guys. I specifically posted in the discussion forum because I didn't think it was important enough to bother you guys! Since it's not a problem with the product - it's an issue with the convoluted stuff I'm trying to do with it!

Sorry if it came across like that!
