filter Category results

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hello,

Is there a way to filter the results based on Category and Blog Section?

ie..
If the user clicks on the category 'Apples' from the BlogSection 'Fruit', I want it to show only items within the 'Fruit' BlogSection.
Currently it will show categories from all BlogSections.

yes, you can simply edit the list block and filter by category.

ChadStrat,

Thank you for your response! I see that works for the ProBlog List.
But I am trying to make it work on the Search Results page, which is where the user goes when clicking on a category.

Any suggestions?

The search results page is filtered by the sending "parent" page. So if your blog is set up like so, it should work:

/blog (no 'blog_section' attribute)
-> /blog/category1 (has 'blog_section' attribute)
-> /blog/category2 (has 'blog_section' attribute)

ChadStrat,

Thanks for your response!

Here is a more detailed scenario of my issue...
I have 3 Blog Sections:
- Fruit (with 2 posts)
- Vegetables (with 2 posts)
- Canned (with 2 posts)

Each post is in a Category of 'ebook'.

When I'm in 'Canned' Blog section and click the 'ebook' category, I would like to display only the posts posts under 'Canned'. Instead, it currently will find all posts from all Blog Sections.

Is there a way to pass a variable in the URL, to filter the results?
ie:
blogsearch/categories/ebook?blogsec=1070

Or maybe some other method to achieve filtering on 'Category & BlogSection'?

I found a work around for my scenario....
use 'beneath another page' on Category List to only show Categories from a certain BlogSection

I've figured it out.
Pass the following parameter in the URL to to specify what BlogSection to search:
blogsearch/categories/ebook?search_paths[]=%2Fblog%2Ffruit
