Hi
I've added the Add Pingback to my problog article page and when I click on it it doesn't show a URL.
I'm not really sure what pingbacks are still but should this have a URL pre-populated with the URL of my article page?

no. pingback offers three things:
1 - it will scrape your article for links to other sites, then go to those sites and post a comment that you have linked to them provided their blogging platform supports pingback.
2 - adds a link in your post (hidden) that allows other bloggers who link to you in their articles to ping-comment on your blog post noting that they have linked to you. (provided that their blogging platform auto ping-scrapes)
3 - adds the url link block to your blog so that bloggers who write about and link to you can come to your blog post, add their link, and auto comment on your post stating such. This is for blogging platforms that do not auto-ping.

The block acts as your pingback server. so if you want other blogs to link to your pages, and then auto comment for them, turn that option/block area on in your PB settings.
As a note, the blog_post page_type has changed to add a new trackback area for this block. you will want to update any custom versions of this page_type to the provided example page type.
