Modal won't open on first click

I've got a contact form in a stack modal, it works great but only after the first click.
The first time you click the button to open the modal, the semi-opaque dark background comes up but not the modal. I can click anywhere on the page to 'close' the modal, but can't actually see it. Then when I click the button to trigger the modal a second time, the modal is visible.
I've built the site using the Bootstrap framework, so thought maybe there is some kind of conflict but can't seem to fix it.

Just added an inline display:none to line 7 of view.php.
