Feature Posts Slider

Permalink Browser Info Environment
After doing a lot of work on the site today, just discovered an anomaly.

While logged in as an admin, the Feature Posts Slider seems to work properly, displaying the List below the primary image.

However when I log out, the list reverts to a bullet list below the main image.

Log back in - it works fine. Log out - goes to bullet list.

UGGGGHN.

went through log-in/out cycle several times
then, closed browser, tried again.
then, tried on another machine's browser.
Same results.

Here is link: 74.53.232.108/~fierce/index.php/main

Any ideas?

I think it could be related to permissions and the page list block somehow. I've seen some other people have issues but not sure if they ever found a solution. See this:

You left this add-on in the marketplace KNOWING OF THE FLAW SINCE NOV 2012 - perhaps longer. And you have clearly DONE NOTHING to correct the problem.

I paid $40.00 for an add-on that currently does not perform as advertised. When I pay money for something I SHOULD NOT have to fix it - that is YOUR job.

Your response SUGGESTS that you do not feel you have any responsibility to make it work properly upon delivery. This attitude is flawed. You wrote this, you marketed it, you took my money for it.

FIX IT OR GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY.

Whoa...hold on a second. It isn't an issue with the theme. To test it out, create a new test page on your site. Have it use the Plain Yogurt (default concrete5 theme) theme. Then, add a page list block to the page to display all pages. Publish. Now log out and see if you can see the list of pages. If not, it's an bug/issue with permissions and concrete5, not the theme at all.

Ok. After running your test, I find that perhaps I did not describe the problem clearly. The page list IS displaying ... BUT IS INCORRECTLY FORMATTED IN VIEWPORT.

I repeat: The page list displays both on the ViewPort page, AND on the Plain Yogurt pages ... HOWEVER, while on the Plain Yogurt page the formatting is consistent whether I am logged in or not. Your ViewPort DOES NOT DISPLAY AS ADVERTISED when NOT logged in.

Now, I see this as poor testing on your part. Fix it, or refund my money.

For some reason the slider's view.css file is coming up with a 404 not found error which is why things aren't working. To see this go to:
http://74.53.232.108/~fierce/packages/theme_viewport/blocks/page_li...

Not sure why that's throwing a 404 error. Try clearing your site's cache (Dashboard->System & Settings->Clear Cache) and see if that fixes it. If not try setting the permissions for that file (and all other files in /packages/theme_viewport/blocks/page_list/templates/feature_posts_slider to 0777.

But this isn't an issue with the theme. I do test all my stuff and as you can see everything works fine on my demo:http://c5mix.com/demos/theme/viewport...

I really wish you would consider it could be an issue with your setup before you accuse and malign me and my products. If you look at the reviews on all my products you will see that I have a great track record of producing high quality items, support and customer service.

Don,
Looks like it is a file permissions issue. Another client had the same issue with that view.css file not showing up. Here's what they did:
http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/themes/viewport/support/this-t...

"....
The /packages/theme_viewport/blocks/page_list/templates/feature_posts_slider folder had permission of 700 rather than 755, correcting just that folder corrected the issue.

Ok. Got it. Dang permissions!

The first time I tried this (from the discussion above) it didn't fix it.

This time, woohoo! It worked. I will save this fix to my "fix list" for future reference.

My apologies for being so rancid. You solved it - Thanks loads! And Kudos!
