How to add Column1 and Column2 Areas on Category page

Permalink Browser Info Environment
My Home page is setup (properly) with the Feature Post Slider and shows two areas (column 1 and column 2) under main area.

When I create a page using the "Category" page type I do not see them (Column 1 & 2 Areas). Your demo shows these on your category pages (Sports page). Wondering how are you doing that? Are you changing the design of page type back to Home? If I do, do I lose the Category in the menu line.
Or is there something basic I need to do.
Help, direction would be appreciated.

On the Category pages, the Category Posts custom template is set on the page list block that displays the articles. That's what creates the 2 columns. There's really only one column of an editable area. That should have been set when you installed the theme, but if not just add a page list block to display pages under that page and then select Custom Templates and choose Category Posts.

Tried that - I can see the different effects of the custom templates
Category Posts and Secondary Posts.
Setting the block Page list and using the Category Post is not showing me the two seperate column areas I expect. I'm assuming it more to do with the page layout (wrong term I know) - the home page layout show the two columns,

FYI - when I look at the "Page Type" php - for category.php it says "Article" - should it say "Category"?? In the original download package.

$pt = CollectionType::getByHandle("article"); in Category Page type
Is this correct?

PM me if you want to discuss in more detail.

No, it won't give you two separate areas. It just outputs the results into two columns. If you want to have two separate areas, just use layouts:

Thanks but I'm not sure if I'm explaining it correctly. Or maybe you do understand what I'm talking about.
I've downloaded the latest C5 5.6 and your package

In the package..
1) On Your "Home" page type - it shows 5 areas - feature, column1, column2, sidebar and main. (I'm not including the Sitewide header and the 4 sitewide footer columns)

2) On Your "Category" page type - it only shows 2 areas - main and sidebar.

But looking at your demo, it looks like you have areas column1 and column2 on the display of the Category page. (unless I am mistaken)

I'd like the column1 and column2 areas to show on the category page as you have.

If this is a result of the Page List Block and the Custom Template (Category Post) then I don't see how it's splitting into two display columns. It's not for me. Maybe its a setting I'm missing.

Question: I was wonder if you've change the page type stucture since your demo or if you used the Home Page type for some of you Category page or if I'm missing something during setup on the Cat page.

I tried this..
I created a new page type called "Category New" and using the Category.php as a base, added the Column1 and 2 from the Home.php page. But my new page is not showing up as a "Category" on the menu line. Thought?

Never Mind - It now appears to be working ...as he scratches his head.
Used the Page List with Category Post template as documented...

It must have been a cache refresh delay thing. (It took me 12 hours to see it)

All is right with the world ... for the moment... once again.
