Global Area Permissions Involving Single Page Login Overrides

Hey All,

I have a site where the entire site is password protected (including the home page). As part of this process, I also over-rode the login page to my custom theme. The custom theme contains a number of a GlobalArea's in the header and the footer.

I'm finding that when I'm logged in -OR- if I have the homepage of the site available to the public, the login page renders correctly. However, if the homepage is password protected, none of the global areas show up.

I'm assuming that behind the scenes, the global area's rendering permissions are tied to the permissions of the root page. Is this correct? Besides hard coding the header and footer into my single page, is there a better solution to this problem then I am realizing regarding permissions? Right now, I'm leaning towards not password protecting the homepage and redirecting to an internal page on arrival (which is basically what the login ends up doing anyway).

Thanks for any guidance/tips as to what might be best.
