Hidden Fields

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Justin,

It would be a useful addition if hidden form fields were visible in data display. A simple application would be where a student might commit to specific goals in the initial submission of the form and then provide feedback later on the attainment of the goals in an editable data display.

Field #1 -- Date
Field #2 -- Number of hours planned for study today
Field #2 -- (Hidden) Actual hours of studying (but visible in editable data display)

Is this type of functionality possible or planned? Or is it already available and I don't know how to make it happen?

A better way to do that might just be to hide the field with CSS on the initial display. That way by default it will show up in the future when editing. You could just assign a CSS class to the container in the field options, and then add that class to your CSS with the property "display:none".

Justin,

Thank you for the response.

I used CSS to successfully hide the feedback fields.

Unfortunately, once the fields are hidden by CSS on the main form they also are hidden by default on the list and detail displays.

Regards,

Okay, you could just get more specific within the CSS then. I'd start by assigning a CSS ID or class within the block's design settings, the prefix the actual CSS styles you create within that class or ID. That way it would only affect the on-page block and not the pop-up dialog.
