Phone Field Needed

I am working on a form with data display and so far so good. I love the tools and I'm learning.
I do, however, have a question --- how do I create a phone field and get it to format for U.S. format? I have HTML5 marked as "YES" so it should work but don't see Telephone as an option.

I'm using a numbers field for now, but I'd like to know if there is a way to add this too.
I've been seeing a lot of formatting of phone numbers with a +1 then the numbers, but am not 100% sure how it would translate across countries. While I don't need to worry about anything beyond US normally, as a developer you do need to consider it. But it's in the core form, so shouldn't be hard to do here also.
Its been an issue with us - which is why I just use the numbers field for now. Many of our clients are foreign, thus we need the country codes.
A phone field will be included in the next version.

I also would consider this a big plus & would love to be notified when the feature is ready for deployment.
Any word on this from the developer, the last version came out after this discussion and the phone field still isn't in there.
A new version might just be fixing things, rather than an upgrade with new features, which I'm sure takes more work to get done.
