Emergency - site is down after adding
Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hi,
1) I can't get into my dashboard to copy the Environment.
2) I got a message after adding that Pretty URLs should be activated, which they already were. C5 notice said I would need to edit htaccess directly, and gave the code to add, which was already in there. I uploaded my edited htaccess, and the site gives a 500 error.
3) my web host doesn't have a backup
4) I'm a designer, so I use C5 for its point and click magic, don't know how to figure out what's wrong.

Sounds more like an htaccess / configuration issue. Can you FTP in and download the htaccess file and error_log file if there is one and upload or copy and paste here?
# -- concrete5 urls start -- <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}/index.html !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}/index.php !-f RewriteRule . index.php [L] </IfModule> # -- concrete5 urls end -- # -- concrete5 urls start -- <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f

Arggh! My host isn't showing errors...time to change hosts.
I have a raw access log file, probably won't help, but...

And thank you for the quick response!
Looks like the Concrete5 code is in there twice. Not sure, but this might be your issue. Try removing one of them and see if that helps. Here is how the file should look when complete:
# -- concrete5 urls start -- <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}/index.html !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}/index.php !-f RewriteRule . index.php [L] </IfModule> # -- concrete5 urls end -- Redirect 301 /heating-and-cooling/ https://powerwisesystems.com/products/sitesage-energy-and-asset-management Redirect 301 /products/emonitor-sitesage/commercial-screen-shots/ https://powerwisesystems.com/products/sitesage-energy-and-asset-management/sitesage-commercial Redirect 301 /residential/ https://powerwisesystems.com/products/sitesage-energy-and-asset-management/sitesage-residential Redirect 301 /contact-us/about/ https://powerwisesystems.com/about Redirect 301 /contact-us/ https://powerwisesystems.com/contact

Thanks, I tried that. No joy.
I'm involving a C5 development expert, so thanks for the help, and I really appreciate the quick response!
I'm looking forward to using the add-on if I can get it working.
Best,
Richard

Sounds good, let me know what it ends up being. I have a feeling there is something with your server's PHP or Apache settings that is probably causing the issue, but 500 errors without the details of those errors are hard to address. The other option is to log in to your database and review the site's logs, there it will give you the error details as well, but if you have someone to do this, you should be ok.
I will let you know. Thanks again.
