This is a slight tangent, but does relate to your package. There appears to be absolutely no podcast system for C5 version 7 or 8. I was wondering if you had every considered whether your blog package could be adapted to provide that gap?

I'm currently running 5.6 but really want to move to 5.8.

But I'm a little confused. My knowledge about podcast is very thin.

Could you elaborate further, maybe write us a more specifik description of what you think.

How would podcast integrate in to a blog?

Sorry for any confusion! Apologies if this isn't technically possible, I can only work from my non technical perspective.

A blog works with individual pages that make up the blog, and then there is a rss feed that can be subscribed to.

A podcast works with one podcast that has many episodes, and an rss feed that can be subscribed to. One of the differences is of course the audio files, and also the various feed tags needed.

My wondering was how difficult would it be to take a blog package and adapt to create a valid podcast feed, and to embed a media player on a blog episode page? If you tried to check a basic rss feed from C5 using an podcast feed checker (http://castfeedvalidator.com) it does well apart from the audio file enclosure info for each episode.

The basic features search, tags and topics features for a blog would be essential for a podcast package as they to require this. For example show the episodes by X person, or on X topic or tag.

For my current podcast we are blog like in terms of a page with the audio file, a page of text, and possibly links to supporting files.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if any item needs further clarifying.

Sorry for the late answer...

I think this is too special and not something we would put on our todo list at the moment. But you are always welcome to ask for a quote to get this functionality in to our package. I personally do not see a lot of use in this direction and we have a lot of straight blogging functionality on our todo list that has a lot higher priority.

Thanks for the feedback. I completely understand where you are coming from.
