Starting a new blog
Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hi
I want to buy the blog add on but I have one simple question.
I have been trying out a lot of themes and in that way also some different blog's but after a while I messed up with topics, pages, entries etc etc , so I had to remove the most of the pages and entries of the themes ..
I want to start fresh with your blog add on , is that possible.
I mean, can I buy the add-on, install it, folow the instructions and then it will run ??
I have some little knowledge of files and how to install etc etc , but I have no idea if the old blog files or information will block the installation of the new blog functionalty
I hope I could make my question a little bit clear?
Thanks,
Stefan.

Hi Michael,
I bought the add on and followed all the video instructions which where most of the time very good.
All the install work is done but I don't get the C5DK blog button started on the page which is defined as the root page, in my case the page 'News'.
I also lost a bit the exactly meaning of the video instruction in the video 'final setup' after the adding of the root page. After that I did not get really what is happening with the C5DK Blog button. Do I have to add twice the C5DK Blog Button ? On the root page and on the page type ?
I used by the way twice the name 'News', for the root page and the type page, is that a problem ?
Let me know, what can be wrong.
I send you a printscreen of the page that is the root page, where you can see the C5DK Blog button as a block.
When I log in as a blog user I don't see the blog button at all
Gr. Stefan

Hi Michael
Wow it is functioning, but I have the impression that (as I asked in my first question) that the older blog page form is ruling over the C5DK format ... well at least is the design of the page like it is now shown up in the pagehttp://test.stefanvandesande.nl/nieuws...
exactly how it was made by a former blog
How can I edit and change the blog 'Nieuws' page ??
But it is at least functioning, I used this time not the same name for the root page and the type page
Let me know

Just to answer the last question (it is already fixed)...
You can call your blog root pages what ever you want - there is no connection between that and the name of the Page Type for the blog.
If you have made any blog pages in concrete5 with another page creating system, our blog package should not have huge problems to overtake the old blog pages. There is things you have to do for it to work and one of them is as follows:
1. First you need to know your user ID number (you go to the users page and go to the user you want as the blog creator for old blogs. When you enter that users settings page you can see the the user ID number in the URL address line FX: "www.yoursite.com/index.php/dashboard/users/search/view/2" - here the user ID is "2").
2. Next you need to go to the sitemap "Page Search" view and search all the blog pages (you can enter advanced search and search for page types). Now select all the found pages and chose "Edit Properties" from the "Items Selected" selectbox. This will give you a list of all page attributes that you can chose from. Here you should chose the "Blog Author ID" attribute and in that enter the user ID number you found on the user search page.
Now all blogs are prepared for our C5DK blog package and they should be editable by our blog editing system!
That's it - good luck with it!

First I would like to explain a little about concrete5 - concrete5 is about pages, that is as simple as that. So all pages you have created, will always be there and our blog package will not have any influence on that.
That being said, if you have any blog pages that you have created with concrete5 composer or something else, these pages are still concrete5 pages and it should be possible to make them a part on our installation of C5DK Blog.
If you already have a blog parrent page (or blog root page as we call it) where your old blog pages is placed beneath, you can simply install our plog package and define your blog parrent (blog root page) as the blog root for the C5DK Blog package.
As you see, our blog package is simply a page creation tool that will assist you in creating blog pages the easy way.
I can't see any problems installing our blog package in any site!
