Can one edit a record on the front end?

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Not sure if I am missing something glaring, or if it just isn't there - but is there a way for a user to edit a record on the front end?

I see via Advanced Forms>Permissions that I can specify for example that a user can edit their records - but would they have to do so via the admin dashboard?

Thanks,

Yes! Use the <edit /> tag in the Data Display template.

To clarify - a link to edit the record will only be shown if the user has access to edit the record.

I thought it was something like that, and even thought I had seen that tag listed somewhere, but when I was looking at the listed tag options in the drop-down when creating by detail template, it was not listed.

I will put it in. Thanks.

Sorry to be dense, but I can't seem to figure out how to get this to work.

I inserted in as part of a link as such:

<a href="<edit />"> in the same way I use the LinkURL tag. I also just inserted it in without the link tag around it. No go.

any clues? Thanks

Don't put it in the <a> tag. Just use <edit /> alone. It will be replaced with a link that says "Edit".
