Enable sensor checkbox does not stick

What exactly does the sensor checkbox do?
I was hoping it would enable the map to zoom automatically to the user location on loading.
When I check it and save, nothing changes.
When I edit the block again it is still unchecked.

I looked up what sensor is and it seems to be a variable that is set true automatically if the device using the map has a geo sensor, otherwise it is set to false. Apparently has no function other than statistics, no location info or function. Not sure why it is there in the admin to be checked on or off.
