Error message, allow_url_fopen

When adding the block to a page, I get the following error message:

Warning: file_get_contents() [function.file-get-contents]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in [...]/packages/extended_google_map/models/google_maps.php on line 1310
"
Is there a possibility to make it work with allow_url_fopen being off?
