Using Addon to Donate a Freeform amount

I'd like to use this as a way to accept donations. Is there a way to allow users to enter the amount they wish to pay?

Yes, this is very easy to do with our add-on. Simply choose Text Field when you add fields and then check the box that asks if this field is a money amount. You probably want to use $0 for the Base Price as well. Otherwise that amount will be added to the amount they input in you text field.
