Documentation

This add-on is designed to work with file sets. This can be (slightly) confusing at first, but is great long-term. This means that as you add content, it can all be handled from the File Manager. Go to the File Manager and upload some files. If they are too large (as videos and music often are), upload them to /files/incoming using FTP, then in the File Manager, click "Upload Multiple", then "Add from Incoming" to select and import the files. Next, in the dialog which appears (or by clicking "Properties" on files), you can change whether the files are grouped in a set. Editing individually, you should be able to configure the Title, Description, Tags, and with the add-on installed, Allow Download properties of the files. Once you do, whenever these files appear on your site, they will have the right title, description, and if allow download is enabled, a download link for users. Tags can be used to categorize files, too. With a File Set ready, go to a page where you would like your files to appear. You can add Media Library blocks to multiple pages, pulling from the same set, or different sets. When you add the block, you can choose the set to use, as well as custom settings for the add-on. You can also add a Media Library Tags block to enable sorting by category/tag on the files. The block supports RSS, and is compatible with podcasting. It also supports paging, so you can control how many files appear on each page. It also includes an editor for creating a "poster frame" for videos, automatically. In the File Manager, click "Edit" on a video file, and you can play the video until you like the frame. Click the button to save as poster frame, and it will automatically generate a still image from your video. When displaying a set of videos, this image will be used to save on bandwidth, before the actual video plays. This is similar to YouTube. Finally, if you want to add videos from YouTube, Vimeo or an external server, they can be inter-mixed with content hosted on Concrete. Just make a text file with the URL to the file, then upload to the Concrete5 File Manager. You can then set the Title, Description, Tags, etc, just like normal.
