How do I turn off the Animation?

I'd like the drop down to just flick on and off rather than have to use a fade or a slide. Can I turn it off?

Interesting request, I've never had anyone ask that before. :-)

A quick tweak will get this happening. Just edit the view.php file in this package and look for this line:
speed: " . (is_numeric($controller->speed) ? $controller->speed : "'".$controller->speed."'") . ",


And replace with:
speed: 10,


This will change the fade-in effect to just 10 milliseconds, virtually making it impossible to tell it's fading to the human eye because it's so fast.
