Resizing Buttons

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Is there an easy way to resize the menu buttons? I'm not that familiar with PHP and my menu is spilling onto a second row. I'd like to make the buttons less high and wide so that every fits on one row. Can I do this easily?

Thanks!

Chris

Hi Chris,
If you wish to change the default sub-column width to allow for longer page names, you want to open the CSS file that matches the skin you've chosen - eg. "red.css" for the "Red" skin. Open that in Notepad (or another text editor) and look for line 20:

.red ul.mega-menu li .sub li

Under this class you'll find a "width" being defined (170px is the default). Just change this number to whatever you wish your width to be.

You may also need to change the background near line 24 as the rounded corners applied to the menu headings are fixed. So simply removing the background image would result in square edged submenu headings - but at least the width would match nicer.

The overall drop-down menu width is automatically calculated based on the assumption the submenus are 170px so adjusting this would be a bit more fiddly (editing the JS file), but if you're only making a small width adjustment it may not be needed.

My general recommendation is to use shorter page titles if possible, but I hope this helps anyway.

Sorry for the delayed reply... I've been pretty busy @ work lately.

I tried the above suggestions, but just haven't been able to get them to work to my satisfaction. Meanwhile, I found another solution (a non-CS5 javascript) that meets my needs.

I won't say that this is a "bad" add-on as what I saw and tried looked great and, indeed, worked as advertised. However, I just wasn't able to get it working so that it would meet my particular needs.

Thanks for all your help!
