menu displays vertically on laptop

Permalink Browser Info Environment
After installing the latest update, the menu now displays vertically instead of horizontally on my laptop. Can't see how to fix this....makes the web page look 'off' now

Hi, which version did you use before?
Did you do a "manual" upgrade (by copying the package files to the server) or upgraded through the Concrete marketplace integration in the dashboard?

A couple possible causes/things to try:
1) Try clearing the Concrete cache in the dashboard - something might have been cached incorrectly.
2) If a manual upgrade was done, there were some CSS changes in newer versions of the add-on and perhaps some old files are still floating around on the server. It's safer to delete the old files and upload the new ones so there's nothing left that shouldn't be there (unless you've made any direct customisations to the files).
3) There's a newer option allowing you to choose from 2 different types of hamburger menus - classic and modern. Perhaps try the "modern" one if you've still got "classic" selected.

Let me know how you go with those.

I look forward to your feedback.

Hi, I'd been running 1.6.3 and updated to 2.0 of the Mega Menu. I installed right from the concrete5 dashboard. Although it keeps telling there's an update even though it says it was downloaded and installed.

I've cleared the cache from the dash board. I seem to have to do that periodically. It didn't make any difference.

I did have the classic view checked. Switched it to the modern, made no difference. And I couldn't see any difference between modern or classic either, which seemed odd.

Also the error 'where it display block can't be shown as latest script needs to be installed' still displays; although it says this error was corrected. In order to see the change I clear the cache and then the menu displays every time in order to see.

Also, I have update to the latest version of concrete5, version 9. I did so from the c-panel with my host through Softucalous installer. Says it's at version 9 now. But doesn't reflect on the concrete5 dashboard. As I've installed mega menu 2 version from the dashboard but it still says there's an update ready to install.

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. Just got my laptop out of the workshop - the hard drive died (first time in 7 years!) and it took a while to get everything up and running again.

If you're not seeing any difference then that is very unusual.
In order to see what is happening, are you able to send me the site access details (dashboard URL, username/password) via DM (not on this thread)? Then I can see if there are any errors behind the scenes.

I'll also be able to see if there are any CSS clashes with the theme or other add-ons.

I've received the PM and had a closer look at your page. There's definitely something strange going on there, but at an initial glance through the CSS in the theme, I don't see anything immediately clashing with the menu.

You're right, you are running an older version of Version 8 (not V9) - here's a screenshot of your "environment" page in the dashboard:http://take.ms/SRCw5

I've done a clean install of V8 on my computer with the same Elemental theme and Mega Menu v2.0, and it looks as designed. Here's a screenshot:http://take.ms/yT6HP

So that must mean there's something going on with the theme on your site. However, the first priority should be updating to a newer version of ConcreteCMS - at least the newest V8 but ideally V9. Doing that is beyond the scope of the free support I can provide.

Once you have done that, then it's possible the issue with the vertical menu layout will rectify itself. If it doesn't then please let me know.

In terms of updating the CMS, the dashboard should show this here: index.php/dashboard/system/update/update
But it's not doing what it's supposed to. I haven't used Concrete via the cPanel installer, so perhaps that's the cause. It's usually cleaner downloading the installation files from the Concrete5 and doing a manual install -https://www.concretecms.org/download...
Otherwise cPanel/Softalicious is adding another layer of complexity which makes troubleshooting slower.

Once ConcreteCMS has been updated, I've noticed some HTML code which is being added to your page that isn't in the original theme. I'm not sure where that's coming from (it's not from my add-on), so something else could be causing the issue. Here's a screenshot from your page:
http://take.ms/fGna9
and a screenshot from my clean install:http://take.ms/0Llg8

I hope this feedback helps.

Thanks but, doesn't seem wise to do a manual update because my host says I'm running version 9.02. See the attached screen shot.

The line of code you see may be the line from google analytics to run stats on my site. I placed this code where concrete5 specified.

It's as if there's a 'link' missing between my site concrete5 site builder and host (fastcomet). Never had issues before updating concrete5 script through the c-panel and softaculous. I also had another host, GreenGeeks, where another site built with concrete5 and updated script this way.

I ended up going to the host (fastcomet), and they 'empty the updates directory
- delete (if it exists) the public_html/config/update.php file'. Apparently there were two more steps to do after the update according to the developers documentation. I didn't look at the developers documentation on updating concrete5 but, the users. Never mentioned having to do these things.

Menu looks okay now. Not sure what to say but, apologies for the time you took!

Ah, glad you managed to get that sorted out. If there's anything else I can help with as far as the add-on, feel free to reach out. :-)
