Plans for Concrete5 5.7?

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hello,

I am considering using concrete5 5.7 for an upcoming project, and by the looks of things your plugin would make some great things possible re: sharing content across multiple sites.

Are there any rough plans/timelines for a 5.7 release of the addon?

Thanks very much,
Paul

Hi there,

Yes, definitely this will be available for 5.7.

It's currently in the works as I speak. You should expect to see a ready version by latest in the beginning of December.

However, we cannot make any promises about the PRB approval timelines, it might take even weeks. But I've understood that even if the PRB does not get this approved within a week, it will go live. So if this is actually true, it would be available in the first half of December.

Do you have any update on where this is in the process?

Hi,

Thanks for the question!

We're certainly behind the initial estimate (super busy end of the year for us) but the good news is that we internally have a working version of the software implemented and working.

There are just few technical things we want to do for it before we publish it to the marketplace.

Current estimate is that it will be submitted to the marketplace before the year changes.

Hi Seitenbau,

Thanks for asking, really great to hear that there is desire for us to release the add-on.

There's currently one problem with the release. There's a technical feature that we currently use our own way in the package but we've managed to get that into the core at GitHub and it will probably come with the next bigger release.

We'll have to see when the new release is due since releasing it without that feature in the core might result in an uncomfortable upgrade path for any Multiple Domains users that used the previous version without that feature in the core.

We'll either wait for the release (depending on when it is due) or investigate ways we could do to avoid this.

I'll keep this thread updated as soon as I know more.

And just to be clear, the feature we got in is contained in this PR:
https://github.com/concrete5/concrete5-5.7.0/pull/1700...

We were actually expecting to see it already in the latest release (thus, the end of the year estimate above) but I guess it was too big for that.

Update on this:
It seems that the features we need have now been merged into the "develop" branch (which is the main branch for new release development), so we're actually expecting these into the core a bit earlier.

They will be within the next version in any case but according to GitHub, the core version currently marked is 5.7.3.2 (and there's also a milestone for that), so we're expecting them to do a smaller point release much earlier than releasing 5.7.4 (which would take months).

So, we'll wait for the next point release and modify the package accordingly once we have these in the core.

I'll keep this thread updated on the progress.

No idea, you might want to ask that from the core team, they know it better.

Hi!

Yes, there are some news. The parts that we were waiting to the core are now there, as of 5.7.4. We have received quite a few requests for this, so it is currently in the works.

There are a couple of things we want to do first (in terms of the package implementation and its dependencies), so we are expecting that we would have a working version in the end of this month.

The 5.7 version has been finally released and approved to the marketplace:
http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/multiple-domains1/...

The 5.7 version is completely re-written with the 5.7 architecture and contains a lot of improvements "under the hood". The most important improvement being that almost no manual overrides are no longer required.

The add-on itself provides the overrides automatically e.g. for navigation helper, Auto-Nav block and global areas. Just install the add-on and you're ready to go.

Thank you everyone for your patience! We would love to hear your feedback!

Hi
This link to the add-on appears broken.

It seems there is still some problem at the PRB approval.

It went live but when we uploaded the official 2.0.0 release, it seems to have gone back to PRB.

They need to resolve this at the PRB, so we're waiting for their response. I'll keep this thread informed once we get this resolved.

The issue should be resolved now and the link is working again.

They said this was some problem in the marketplace automated tests system timing out which left the add-on in a weird place in the process.

Should be fine now.
