Order details missing on PayPal site

Permalink Browser Info Environment
We are using PayPal Payments Pro add-on. When a customer selects PayPal as their payment method, the order goes over to PayPal without any order data other than the total amount.

That would seem to me to be a very weak integration of this package with PayPal. I have a shopping cart on another platform and it sends all order data over. This is very important because I can run reports on PayPal that break out the order data and in particular, the SALES TAX DATA.

Further muddling it up for the customer, on PayPal while checking out it says "You will be able to see your order details before you pay." (In the area of the screen the order details should be.) But that never happens.

Is this a function of this PayPal add-on or the e-commerce add-on? Can we get the order details to show on PayPal's site?
Thanks,
John

There is an additional issue with using PayPal. On the PayPal checkout screen, in addition to the message in the order detail section (telling them they will be able to see the order detail before checking out) there is another messeage at the bottom of the screen next to the "Continue" button that says "You're almost done. You will confirm your order on XYZ Site (my website). But when the customer clicks Continue, the order is done - they don't go back to my site to confirm the products ordered, the shipping amount, the sales tax... Its just Surprise! Done.

On another site I have that uses a different shopping cart that is integrated with PayPal Website Payment Pro, when a customer chooses PayPal, this all works as explained - they see the product in the order details section, they go back to my site to confirm the order details, (at that point their address is put in by PayPal data, the shipping is put in and the sales tax - it obviously collected from their PayPal info) and they get a final "Place Order" button to click.

If you want to go through the process to see how it is supposed to work go tohttp://www.knotcards.com and you can safely bail out without buying right up to the "Place Order" button back at my site at the end.

Did you ever get more information about getting the order data into PayPal? I'm a few versions behind for the eCommerce plugin, and hoping the most recent version or possibly this plugin might now allow order details to be sent into PayPal. I didn't see any details or version descriptions stating anything about it. I'd love to know. Thanks
