Wordpress Importer

Hi there, just purchased the new 5.7 version and noticed that there's an upcoming wordpress importer. I was about to write my own and so I'm curious if that's coming very soon, or even if its in a beta state that I could work with to accomplish my immediate need with?

mmm...with the holidays we are likely looking at the new year for this. If you open source that and share on Git I am more than happy to give all credit where credit is do. It would be a free package just like the pre 5.7 version anyway...so whoever does it is not as important to me.

Would second the need for a generic RSS/Wordpress importer - really not looking forward to importing all my old Wordpress blog entries (not bothered about pages) into my new ProBlog installation.
