Add popup content

Permalink Browser Info Environment
I am looking to have the added feature for a new client to being able to link to popup content. I was thinking that linking to a stack in a popup would work.
My client is after something along the lines of the route maps on this page
https://airsafaris.co.nz/the-grand-traverse/...

Thanks

Hi Colin, apologies for the delay in reply,

for the kinds of maps you've pointed out on the airsafaris website, I'd actually suggest that the Responsive Image map add-on isn't really a good starting point for this.

I can see how being able to select an image and then draw on link areas would be functionality that you need, but then linking that up to display stacks or content on hover is not easy to add in, and my concern is that the final product wouldn't give you the control you might need.

For example, on that map when you hover over a marker it changes colour. You'd also need to make sure that the popup sits in the right place, and that could mean selecting what side of the marker it showed up on.

So I don't have an immediate suggestion for an add-on to handle this. I think it would need to be something quite specifically built. I can certainly scope and quote this for you, but we'd want to exhaust looking at other options first.

One solution is to create such maps using external tool. Quite a few years ago we added some similar maps to this site here: https://www.avenueofhonour.com.au/memorial/...
(it's just a click rather than a hover)

We built these maps using a program called Tumult Hype -http://tumult.com/hype/
We've actually used it for all sorts of interactivity over the years, interactive graphs and other times where we've needed custom interaction. It creates a stand-along script and bundle of files, and then these can be embedded on a site using an HTML block. For it's cost it's been really good value. Mac only though.

That's something to investigate, or, if the content on these popups is unlikely to change, you could engage us to put together the graphic(s) at an hourly rate. It wouldn't be directly editable, but we'd also be available to make adjustments at pretty short notice.

Hi,

I have had a look at your suggestions.
The issue is that the popup content needs to be editable by the client.
I have looked at the various add ons that popup content or stacks but none will allow the link in a fixed responsive position over the image. There are also some Map add ons that allow for popups at markers but unfortunately the route maps have to be image.
If you are interested in developing this could you pm me with a likely budget noting that the sample site provided was a guide only and we can look at variations on the function.
Or would i be better off looking at one off the popup developers as a starting point?

Hi Colin,

going forward, let's take this conversation over to email, as these support threads are actually publicly visible.

If you can shoot me an email to ryan@mesuva.com.au, we can discuss some of the details and I can put together a proposal for you.

Cheers
-Ryan
