sorry to hear that you're having issues with the marketplace.
I can't really comment on what is going wrong with the cart, that may be due to the revamp of the marketplace and communities sites in the last month.
But in terms of installing the add-on manually, this should be pretty straightforward.
The zip you downloaded, you can upload that and unzip it in the top level /packages folder of your installation. Once there, you can go do the 'Extend concrete5' dashboard page, and there you should see the add-on available to install. A few clicks later and it should be ready to use.
