No, you're not missing anything -- it shouldn't be doing that. Can you post a link to your site that this is happening on so I can take a look?
And can you tell me how many gallery blocks you have on the page, and what other blocks are on that page as well (it's possibly a conflict with another image gallery).
Finally, do you happen to know if you're including any javascript lightbox effects in your theme templates?

I do have two of them on the same page at the moment, but it happened when I just had one as well. The theme is Camilo, which does have a lightbox. You can see the lightbox being used on the only image on the "Roster" page. Thanks for your help.

I see what's going on -- the Camilo theme is including its own lightbox effect ("shadowbox"), which is interfering with the sortable fancybox. I've updated the package to include a fix for this -- let me know if this fixes it or if you are still having problems.
