Can I choose to show a random testimonial on page load rather than live rotation?

The questions in the subject...

I have two testimonial areas in the footer of my website design. I'd like to pull in two different sets of testimonials (which I'll manage through your categories feature) and display one at random for each area.

Is this possible?

Thanks!

Yes that should be possible, if you select "Single" for the type and then choose "By Category" for the display option. As long as you have more than one testimonial in the category one should randomly appear each time the page is loaded.

Currently you have random and by category as options. Is it possible to add in another that is a combination of those two? What I'm trying to get is to pick a category and then a random testimonial from that category is displayed.

From what you've said it sounds like this should be happening when I choose the by category option. But it isn't. I always get the same testimonial.

You are right it should do that by default, I have released an update that fixes the issue.

I deleted my old 'studio_testimonials' folder and uploaded the new release so that this functionality would work, but it's still not loading images randomly on page load.

Do I have to fully uninstall the package and then re-install it in order for this functionality to work?

As long you upload the new package it should work. Are you using the categories settings, and how many testimonials do you have in the category you are using. Also make sure that all the testimonials are approved, or else they will not show up.

Well I'm not sure what I did wrong the first time around, but I re-downloaded the new package and replaced my files again. Seems to work!

Must have re-uploaded the old one the first time around...

Anyways it's working good now. Thanks!

Sounds good! I've purchased the add-on and installed it on my dev site. However I want to display the testimonial block (two areas) directly into the theme of my site.

I tried looking into the controller to figure out how to set the options myself, but I wasn't very successful. I was able to display the block with all the testimonials, but couldn't figure out how to set the options.

I basically want to do the following:

- Display a random, single testimonial
- Display from a single category (which I've already created)

I think that's it. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks
