I have been on your demo site and added the menu to header nav. The drop downs are hidden by the slideshow images !

Hello,

It's a z-index problem caused by the slideshow. You will have to modify your themes css file to change the z-index of the div surrounding the menu.

It's not my theme, it's the default Concrete5 one that you use in your demo. I would have thought you would have made a demo that actually worked !
I only started to work with Concrete5 a few weeks ago and I really like it. It has a different approach to Wordpress, Joomla and Drupal which I have used before. However I am really disappointed by the quality of the add-ons, particularly menus. I've not yet found one that works properly without having to mess around with theme css. Frankly if it doesn't work with plain yoghurt in a demo, what chance does it stand of working in any other theme.

I'm sorry you feel that way. The problem actually has nothing to do with the theme, its just because the slideshow block uses z-index, which will cause anything else to show behind it. I chose not to set a z-index on the menu because I believe it would create more theme compatibility issues than it would solve.

That said I agree that there is a need for a better menu add-on for concrete5, and we are working on developing one, but it could still be a while before it gets to the market. I have been working with concrete5 for well over a year, and I have also worked with the other systems you mentioned, and I have found that even with the lack of add-ons, developing with concrete5 is still a lot faster and easier.

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate your comments. I intend to persevere with concrete5 for the reasons you mention.
