I think my confusion came from the fact that under "slides" the subtitle for "SIides extra text" is: "Styles here affect all carousel items children, includes images, titles, descriptions & extra texts."
Maybe that's a bug(?), It seems to me that this explanation belongs onto the other tab 'Carousel' ->Carousel Design somewhere.
