Slideshow Resize

Permalink Browser Info Environment
So I'm using the standard concrete5 slideshow block on my homepage. It looks great on Mac / PC / iPad, but on iPhone the photos get cut off on each side, resulting in thin, long photos that don't really show much of anything. I've tried to resize the slideshow height for iPhone using CSS, but now the slideshow just overlaps out of its box and starts covering up content. I've also tried resizing it using the CSS3 transform property, but that just shrinks the cut-off version of the image. Can anyone provide any insight?

Hi John,

Firstly, thanks for buying one of our themes.

The way in which the slideshow block works is somewhat outside of the scope of the theme and its ability to be responsive - the reason I say this is the slideshow block places the images on the page as background images I believe, this means the images do not scale as they would if they were a standard image block. Not too sure why C5 decided to do it this way but that is how things stand at the moment.

There are a couple of ways you could get round this, which you decide is up to you. You could either hide the slideshow area once the screen size has gone too low to support the images properly. Alternatively you could see if there are any responsive sliders/slideshows out there that may play ball (or even use a standard image per page maybe?).

The incompatability of this block will be the same across all responsive themes as far as I am aware as they would all encounter the same issue. I hope this answers your question and gives you a bit more insight. if you have any further questions then please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks

Andy

Thanks! I'll look around for another slideshow plugin that will work. If worse comes to worse, maybe I'll just spend a weekend writing my own. Been wanting to get into c5 plugin dev anyway.
