Make content scrolling stops before top of page

Hey
I have made the slide out menu set but now I have the problem where the page scrolls over the menu. Is there a way to make a top padding where there is just the menu, so content disappears there. Like on Facebook where when you scroll, there is still a header at the top. Hopefully this makes sense.

Can you post a link to your site so I can take a look? I think you should just need to set a z-index on the menu, but I need to take a look. Thanks.
