right sidebar cannot be deleted

I switched from the Sidebar theme to Encant. Now the starting page is empty (it contained a photo slider with the cycle2 block). Furthermore I cannot delete the sidebar right from the main region, that is present on any page and that I don't need because it reduces the width of the main area. I've tried to change the page templates in order to get rid of the right sidebar and to increas the main area width but with no success. Any help is appreciated.

Many thanks for your fast reply. Yes, I do not want the right sidebar in order to have a wide main region. Here is the URL:https://graef-photography.de/index.php/galleries/traveller... . As mentioned "home" is still empty as the cycle2 slider is obviously not loaded.
