background color in the main area getting white instead of transparent

If I delete the background color from main section, then it becomes white instead of getting transparent. But if I select any color and turn the transparency slider to 0, then it becomes 100% transparent.

If you delete the color, then it reverts to the default, which must be white. Setting a transparency to 0 then should make the background transparent.
