Drop Down Menu Colours

Ive had issues with the drop down menu not working as it is shown in the demo since I first started working with this theme.
I did request help last year, but the issue was never resolved.
In the demo, when a page is active, the menu at the top shows the page as active by changing the colour to light green, even when there there is a submenu and you are on a submenu page. I have attached an screen shot of this.
In customise theme, I have changed the Navigation Active colour, but a page only shows up as the active colour if there are no subpages.
I have attached a screen shot of the theme demo, clearly showing a menu item with a subpage showing up as active in light green.
I have also attached a screen shot of my own site, with the Home page showing a menu item WIHOUT a sub page, working perfectly fine by changing the menu item to the active colour to light blue.
...and also a screen shot of my own site, WITH a sub page selected, but the menu item NOT changing to the light blue to show that it is active.
There is clearly an issue with the active colour being applied when pages have submenus items.
Please advise how this can be fixed.

The attachments are there, 3 of them. Link to them is in to the right in the blue header for the post next to the reply button. The issue has not been resolved yet.
