Remove power slider

Permalink Browser Info Environment
I love this theme but wish to remove the power slider block but when i remove the block and the image behind it which is bgVignetteShell.jpeg i am still left with a Black strip across the screen where the bgVignetteShell file would have been.

Can anybody help?
Many thanks

I would just use a subpage page type instead, that would get rid of your huge header area. put page titles in there as seen in the demo.

Hello again Michael

Do you mean that i should just edit the design of my home page and change the "page type" to a right side bar in stead of home page as its layout?

Regards

Yeah - the only real difference between the two page types is the large header area. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're really trying to accomplish.

Hi

I think you are understanding me correctly. I simply want to remove the power slider from my home page and just deleting the block does not delete the background it occupies.

Changing the page to right side bar would inherit my right side bar page defaults, so I think I will create a new page type that is also a right side bar and name it home page and then change the design of my current home page to newly created page type.

Regards

Dave

that sounds good, in fact, the best way to do that would be to actually modify the existing "Homepage" page type, and change the handle to "right_sidebar". That would use the right sidebar markup, but still be the "homepage" page type...

Ok, that sounds like the best way, I've not done that before. I shall attempt it later today.

Many thanks

HI
I've tried to change the homage handle to right_sidebar but when i click save and view the homepage it just defaults back to the handle of homepage again.

Think i shall go the other route of creating a new right_sidebar page with not default blocks and then change the homepage design to this newly created page.

Does that sound best?

Thanks

I just realized that for some reason you can't reuse the handle.

There's a cool trick though. Since the default.php is a right-sidebar page type, you can actually rename the homepage handle to gibberish, and it'll use the default.php since there is no page type for "asdfjkl" or whatever you put in.
