problems with mega menu overlap

Permalink Browser Info Environment
I am devel in concrete5 using Night city theme. have before devel in Dreamweaver.

great theme and site looking great however i have run into a couple of issue I just do not know how to master.

here is problem. have installed and using Add-on mega menu in stacks at header_nav.

however when i display on the pages, first it seems cramped, all bunched up, not looking anything like in the demo and inside stack and second not able to actually see the drop downs in the area where it has C5 Extras type.

I have experiments with changing the background colors, but still cannot see drop down. lettering is in white etc.

Would not have a problem with totally removing the area behind C% Extras (type) but do not know where to go in the software files to do this (maybe use a temp notation like in Dreamweaver to do this for a test look).

Was also thinking of actually trying to move the entire block downward until menu showing is clear, but again do not know where to go to do this.

I would certainly appreciate any ideas or directions anyone might have to solve 1 or more of these issues
thx much

Hi, thanks for purchasing my theme and add-on.
It would be easier to help troubleshoot the issues if I can see the actual page. Can you please supply a URL so I can take a closer look for you?

hi JB,

First let me tell you that your theme is outstanding, and I think you will
like what I am trying to do with the template. This is my first attempt at
Concrete5, so have an interesting learning curve. Have only been using for
about 2 weeks now.

I would certainly welcome any feedback or criticism from the designer,
himself. That would be a treat.

Anyway I have concrete5 only on my home computer for the next few days, but
i am going to be uploading Concrete5 into my Linux server in the next few
days, so if you could be patient with me during this week, I would then be
able to transfer my working website onto my server and give you full access
at that time.

I have reviewed all of the CSS and looked at some of the page code, and I
think i know where the changes might be needed, but I do not have the
permissions to make the changes, from my Dreamweaver or notepad.

Wow, interesting code and CSS.

Please advise if this is still okay with you.

Thx
Blackadder

Thanks Blackadder, I appreciate the positive feedback.
Once you have uploaded the site to your Linux server, just post the link here so I can take a look for you.

You can certainly go ahead and edit any of the CSS or PHP files included with the theme, there's no restrictions on that.

Hope this helps.

Hi Sir,

I have now launched my C5 website.

the link is www.www.email-newsletter-marketing.com...

As you might observe I am having 2 issues with the Night City Theme and also
the add-on for Mega Menus

I have reviewed some of the CSS for both, but i must admit I am slightly
worried about getting into the CSS without at least some feedback from you
guys. I am not exactly certain what to adjust on both to make them, work in
tandem.

I really think this might be CSS conflicting or inherit problems so I am
hopeful you can shine some light to make this work great.

I do love your theme for what I am trying to do and also the mega menu hits
the right spot, I believe for this website.

If you notice, the black header banner is a bit to high and conflicts with
viewing the menu drop-down boxes, so I would want to try and move this whole
structure down many px to make space for the drop-downs to be clearly seen.
i have no plans to move beyond the existing drop-down range as is now being
used.

Second, the Mega Menu. it appears scrunched to the right. When I have
looked at the example on the add-on page, it flows freely and not scrunched
up. also the top menu text seems scrunched and I notice that the about menu
drop box is different from the drop box layout for Email marketing and do
not know why this is occurring and would also appreciate comment on this
issue. I placed the mega menu inside the stacks - header menu. maybe this
is my problem but I could not make it work otherwise???? Please advise.

I really need for appearance sake to have everything line up clean and
nicely edge to edge.

As you might observe I have already made some minor CSS changes on the
sidebar and a few other areas.

I am trying to re-launch my web business with this new C5 format so i want
to be certain everything works well. for comparison here is my old
website link that will itself be changing content and also converted to C5
format

Hi Mike,
Your website is looking great. Sometimes themes with built-in formatting for the navigation area will override the Mega Menu which causes the clash. Here's a list of CSS tweaks for you to make:

style.css:

line 198:
#headermenu_ul
- Remove height and width
- You can remove the margin to make it align to the left

line 211:
#headmenu li
- remove all styling here

line 217:
#headmenu a
- remove padding
- remove float
- remove display:block

line 392:
#headmenu .sub_menu li a
- remove white colour
- remove width

This should get it looking better. The drop-down menus will start to appear in the right spot once you make these changes then reload the page.

However, the menu is still too wide to fit onto one line, so you can customise the skin to reduce the padding on the menu items:

light_blue.css:

line 11:
.light_blue ul.mega-menuh li a
- change padding to: 10px 28px 10px 15px (you can play around with that)

After all these changes, it should look good.

Hope this helps.

Hi JB

thanks for the ideas and will do them probably tomorrow night. (bed time -
up at 4:00 am everyday )

I was wondering about the actual positioning of the black header panel
where it says the words effective email marketing

will the changes indicated below cause this panel to move down or do i need
additional CSS changes to move it down?? thinking it might need to move
down about 20 px or so, to give enough space to the Mega menu to display
properly.

When displaying now, looks very washed out and cannot see the menu words.
Also wondering how menu display will show against the background image night
sky. Am i able to maybe change the text to yellow like on the sidebar??

Thx

Mike R

The previous changes will push the menu in the correct location, immediately above the header panel. You can add margin to the bottom of the menu (or top of header panel) if you want a gap between then.

Yes, you can change the colour of the text fairly easily. Look for line 11 on light_blue.css (.light_blue ul.mega-menuh li a).

Hope this helps.
