Correct me if I'm wrong, but the blog_index.php comes with Slate, right?
If so, then how can I shorten the number of lines that display for my page list with the Blog Index custom template applied? It seems to want to show nearly the whole blog whereas I'd only like it to show 10-20 lines worth.

The blog_index template pulls whatever is in the Main content on the Blog Entry page type. So, just put the 10-20 lines of content in that area, then the rest in the Blog Post More area. See the content of this page on the Slate demo for explanation:http://c5mix.com/demos/index.php?cID=311...
