Extending the theme colors to background
Permalink Browser Info Environment
Is there a way to set the background color of the default skin to have the same white and black color as the main content area. I saw this website that used the slate theme and did this but I have no idea how. To give a better idea of what Im talking about, I've attached a screenshot of that other website. You can see that the background sides are white instead of grey like in the default theme and the black in the footer and nav bar extends all the way to the sides. I dont want to put content in the side areas but just want the colors to look the same.

Changing the background color is easy. Go to Dashboard->Pages & Themes and click the Customize button next to Slate. Then just change the background property to white. You can also change the Header & Footer background color too
Thanks for the reply! I was able to change the background color that way but the footer and nav bar colors dont extend to the entire page width as in the snapshot so I thought there must be some other way to do that?
Not sure how they did that without seeing their code. Can you post a link to the site
Yup. Heres a link to their websitehttp://www.rcp.pt/
Ok, so it looks like they moved the <header>, <nav> and <footer> outside of the #container div. Doing so made those elements expand full width of the browser. Then they added some other divs within those elements to "center" the content within that div to the appropriate width.
