page list link under nav bar

Permalink Browser Info Environment
I tried to add the following per this forum:

added this line to "Add your CSS"
#page-meta h1 { display:none!important; }

save
cleared cache

to hide the page name link under the main horizontal menu

This did not work. What am I missing !

Tried all 3 main browsers.
Should I make the change in .php file instead ?

delete pagemeta.php worked ( i backed up file 1st)
and got this:

not sure EXACTLY WHAT LINES to delete or comment

I restore original file pagemeta.php.
I now see the Page Name in a large font on the left and the same Page name in a smaller font grayed out on the right under the nav menu.
I then see a gray horizontal rule under these texts mentioned above.

I want to delete everything below the nav menu.

What file do I need to modify to reclaim this real estate.

Ok, you should just be able to go to Dashboard->Pages and Themes and click Customize next to Slate. Then in the Add your CSS box add the following:
#page-meta { display:none!important; }

Then Save. Then, go to Dashboard->System & Settings->Clear Cache and clear your site cache.

I copy and pasted the CSS and it work !
