Problems

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hi, I'm currently working on a website for a primary school and have experienced a number of problems using Slate, particularly with regards to setting up slide shows and galleries using the options available.

Originally I attempted to use the 'Power Slider' but that resulted in the strange black boxes appearing in the bottom left corner and in IE the slider actually overlapped the right side bar text? So I had to change that to the standard Slideshow block which now behaves in IE but creates a huge space below it on IOS devices?

I also have to create a large gallery of images which I'd like to do using the Editable Responsive Gallery block. Setting it up to use file sets is straightforward enough but the lightbox effect does not work?

Attempting to set up a Ticker message results in 'fatal error' messages.

Assigning a page for the Search block loads the page but no actual results (works fine loading results below the search box as default).

All very frustrating. Can you shed some light on any of the above please, especially with regards to the Responsive Gallery?

Sorry your having problems.
1. Regarding the Power Slider, not sure what could have caused that without looking at it. Did you put in a support ticket with that addon?
2. For the slideshow block see these threads:

3. For the responsive gallery block, it's probably because it uses Fancybox too and it's "cancelling" out Slate's version of it. Upgrading to the latest version of Slate should fix that.
4. What do you mean by 'Ticker' message?
5. You have to have a search block added to the Main area on the search page. See this tutorial:http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/using-concrete5/in-page-edit...

Thanks for your responses.

As far as I'm aware we are running the latest version of Slate - version 1.5.1 so can't understand why the responsive gallery block isn't working. You can view a demo page of what we are trying to do here:
http://parkprimaryschool.n-gagemedia.co.uk/index.php/about_us/tour-...

The images are displayed but the lightbox effect doesn't work?

With regards to the ticker message, the school want to integrate some form of news feed so we were looking at news ticker options. We installed a free add on but it keeps displaying error messages which I think is because it is not compatible with the latest version of Concrete5.

As for the search block, thank you for your guidance with that. It is a shame you have to add another search field though as ideally we just wanted the results to display on a page without having to display another search field on that page as well. So we will probably just stick to displaying the search results below the search field that we have set up in the header.

Any guidance you can give with regards to the responsive gallery block would be most appreciated.

Ok, I had thought that I had released the latest version of Slate with that fancybox fix but it turns out I hadn't. Sorry about that. I just released version 1.5.2 which has those changes. So upgrade to that and see if it fixes that fancybox issue.

Regarding the ticker you should put in a support ticket for that addon.
