Hi Guys. I'm pretty tech savvy but it's been a long time since dealing w/ this kind of stuff. Let's just say my Myspace page used to rock. lol. Anyway, I am a dog trainer and my business is growing and was built completely off referrals and from Facebook. Now I'm beginning to get referrals outside the FB user realm and being asked about my website. I started a site with a basic free C5 theme and thought, wow, I like it but it's a little slow - maybe 5-10 seconds to load up. Then I d/l this theme (Urban) and it consistently took 18-20 seconds to load - with no content except a title. I had several friends check on several devices/networks and it was all the same. So I went to my host's control panel and deleted EVERYTHING from my file directory. I found I had previous installs of WP and various other uploaded junk so I wiped it and reinstalled Urban. To no avail, 18-20 seconds to upload. I can't use a product which takes this long to load - *I* don't even have the patience to wait for that when building the site, let alone think someone else is going to wait that long to get info about dog training.

I have seen in the basic C5 forum where there were suggestions about caching and made those adjustments with no changes as well. Any suggestions? If I can't get this to load in a timely manner without any content, I can't imagine what will happen when I add photos to it! (I may not be equipped to do all the code re-writing in order to use this product and may need a refund)

Hi Angela,

The speed problems you are having will have nothing to do with the theme, it will be due to your hosting. C5 sites are renowned for needing decent hosting for them to load quickly.

If you look at our demo site urban.formigo.co.uk you should see that the site does not suffer from slow speeds. The demo site uses the exact theme files as the package you will have.

The first thing I would do is speak with your hosting company and see if you are set up in the best possible way.

Setting up your caching correctly should help speed, but this will all be academic if your hosting is not up to the task.

Thanks
Andy
