Styling gone after upgrade to latest version of core

I performed the update of the system to the latest version this morning & the colour coding from my calendar in weekly view has dissappeared. I've tried copying the css file into the root directory as Andrew suggested on a different thread but that didn't work.
The changes I made were basic enough, just made the calendar narrower & changed the highlight colour for table.ccm-calendar-mini div.ccm-calendar-has-events
The sizing changes are intact but the background colour has gone.

You can usually override the core styles by just being more specific with your css in your theme's css file, that way it won't get overwritten durring upgrades.
