the reason the screenshots are very simple looking is that the add-on doesn't include any styles of it's own - it will adapt the same styling (at least in terms of basic styling) as the applied theme. It's intentionally plain so others can adjust it to match.
The list of locations for example, is really just basic headings and unordered list of links, so they look however these elements are styled in the current theme. There are also quite a number of extra classes added to the output, so more custom styling can be applied specifically to the map location list.
In terms of providing custom styling (or changes to the output format), there are a few different ways to approach it:
- if you've developed your own theme, you could just include styles that target the block
- you can create a 'custom block template' for the block, which can also include a stylesheet with additional styles. The HTML output can then also be adjusted to your liking. This is quite easy to do once you know the way that block templates work (https://documentation.concrete5.org/developers/working-with-blocks/working-with-existing-block-types/creating-additional-custom-view-templates)
- if you are using a pre-built theme you can often include custom CSS through the theme configuration. Personally I find this process time consuming, so I built an add-on to make this faster (https://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/theme-styling-tool/), but that's just a suggestion
