Documentation - is it an older version of Concrete 5?

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hello, I have purchased the C5mix and after trying a few of them out I noticed that the documentation is very hard to follow
i.e.Adding Your Own Logo

By default, the logo area of Slate pulls back the Site Name from the Sitewide Settings section in your dashboard, unless the My_Site_Name global scrapbook block has been created - then it pulls whatever content is added in that block (see more about the My_Site_Name block). If you like the look of the logo in the demo and just want to replace 'slate' with your Site Name, simply delete the My_Site_Name scrapbook block and update the Site Name section in Dashboard->Sitewide Settings to whatever you want it to be. If you however want to add your own company logo, simply add it to the My_Site_Name block in Dashboard->Scrapbooks->Global Scrapbooks.

I am a very experienced web developer and I find that hard to follow. In the version of Concrete I am using ( I just started using it ) there is no Dashboard-> Site Wide settings or anything using the word Scrapbook. So for someone like me it is almost impossible to follow - I would recommend updating your documentation and saving them in a folder 5.5-and_up or something.

Also I would consider somehow having your demos as starting points or have them as a separate download for reference- I opened up the ViewPort theme and it was really confusing to recreate what I saw in the Demo especially with the docs as they are referencing menu items that are no longer there( as mentioned above )

Yeah that was for an older version of concrete5. I'll have to update that on c5mix.com. Here's the most updated documentation:

As far as ViewPort docs I don't see anything that's out of date there. What specifically are you referring to?

Thank you for that update. The viewport mention was more of the issue that it would be easier to take things out than to put them in. I haven't been using Concrete very long yet. I have done a theme from scratch and one that I themed from HTML. With the sample data only - simple things like setting up the blog to receive comments - etc. are things that I am trying to figure out. I bought your theme to basically see how others are doing things. I just thought that you would have more happy customers if a script that loaded everything that is in your demo would load during installation ( except of course the photos that are copyrighted ) I am guessing that you left the logo in the way it is to make it backward compatible? I would think that coding iot with the GlobalArea and then supplying backward compatibility would be less confusing.

Anyway thanks for the update.

Jim,
Thanks so much for the feedback. I think you're right with the demo content. I'll definitely think about implementing that.
